Painful to wear upper dentures 4 years after upper teeth were extracted, gums are notty and sore, I had two sets of dentures and they fit well, but still have to use lots of padding and paste to keep from hurting while eating

  • There are many reasons for the gums to be sensitive after so many years of extraction. The most common is that the dentures do not fit well but it is not the reason with you as you say that the dentures fit well. Other reason can be that you have some systemic problem like sugar or high B.P. and because of that your gums have become senstive or you are on medication. You can go for the relining of the denture or discuss your problem with your dentist. May be the regular massage of the gums and the use of warm saline rinses will help you. Without doing the clinical examination and taking proper history it is difficult to diagnose the problem and the treatment depends upon the diagnosis.
