My 8 year old daughter lost her right lateral incisor more than a month ago but it looks like there's still a piece of the tooth left because I can see it coming through the gumline. She said it's not painful though, but maybe uncomfortable at times. Will it help if she tries to "push" it out of her gum. Can this cause an infection? When should I bring her to the dentist? Thanks for your help.

  • Normally the remanants of baby teeth are not there as resorption of root of baby tooth takes place which causes its expfoliation. Till the xray  is taken, we cannot be sure whether the part you see is remanant of baby tooth or it is the adult tooth coming out. It is better not to touch and donot try to push or pull out. Schedule an appointment with dentist asap. Dentist will take xray and do clinical examination to decided whether it is remanant of baby tooth or it is adult tooth coming out. for more info on dentition you can check this link in our website...
