Hello, Three months ago I had a deep amalgam filling on the large molar changed to a resin one. There is now a fistula on the gum and the xray shows a small dark area around the root tip. There is no pain, no heat sensitivity and no discoloration. At about the time this fistula appeared root canal reatment was started on an adjacent tooth. Does this tooth also need root canal treatment or is their another alternative?

  • It looks like that you need root canal in that tooth also if you really want to save the tooth. There is no other alternative. There is no pain as the fistula is there and whatever infection is there it is being drained out from that fistula. If you delay he things the bone resorption will be there which will make the tooth weak and it will become mobile.
