About an hour ago, I noticed I have a bump on the back of my mouth. It is in the way back of my cheek. It kind of hurts. I checked it out in the mirror and it looks like a pea size dark spot. It is inflammed. What could it be?

  • Bumps on back of mouth can be canker sores . These bumps usually regress on its own. If they are not increasing in size and are not painful, then you don’t have to worry. To avoid any secondary infections, you can do warm saline rinses and keep the tongue clean. If they persist for more than 2 weeks, then you can visit your dentist for evaluation.Avoid foods which are likely to cause allergy. The common food allergens causing  canker sores are tomatoes, nuts, chocolates and milk products. Consume lots of citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables for long term relief from cold sores.
