I had tooth # 30 removed on 10/04/17 and now am experiencing stiffness in my jaw and a lot of itching that acts up mainly at night when laying down, but also throughout the day. Nothing really helps the itching except an ice pack. The tooth was infected for 2 months before it was removed.

  • If you are experiencing stiffness and itchiness in the jaw, it cannot be because of extraction of # 30 tooth. You got # 30 tooth removed almost five months back. The stiffness or itchiness can be because of some gum problem or some infection in the adjacent teeth. Sometimes when one does not go for the replacement for the missing tooth then because of lost tooth the gums of adjacent teeth get infected and patient feels itchiness. For this you can do warm saline rinses two to three times a day and apply OTC available gum paint in that area. If this does not take care of your problem then visit your dentist. He will take x-rays and do the clinical examination to find out the cause of the stiffness and itchiness of the jaw and do the needful.
